Privacy Policy
Effective · Last updated
Your privacy matters to us. In short: we collect what we need to run your account, we never sell your personal information, we explain how our AI features and third-party data providers work, and we keep your uploads until you choose to delete them.
1. Who we are and what this covers
Lebs is operated by DN Ventures LLC (“Lebs,” “we,” “us” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information when you visit our website, create an account, or use the Lebs workspace and related features (together, the “Service”).
This policy is part of our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service. For personal information covered by this policy, DN Ventures LLC is the “business” or “controller” responsible for it.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address and password when you sign up. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form; we never see or store them in plain text. If you sign in with a third-party account such as Google, Apple or GitHub, that service shares your name, email address and profile photo with us, as you authorize on its consent screen. We do not receive your password for that account.
- Workspace data: your watchlists, saved views, filters and similar preferences.
- Content you submit or upload (“User Content”): for example questions you ask our AI features, notes, trade cards, images, files and other material you add to the Service, now or as these features become available.
- Communications: messages, feedback, support requests and survey responses you send us, including through the contact form (your name, email address, topic and message).
- Early-access list: if you join it, your email address and the interest you pick, used only to send you Lebs updates. Ask us through the contact form to be removed.
- Abuse prevention: to limit spam on the contact form and early-access list, we store a one-way, salted fingerprint of the network address a submission came from, not the address itself.
- Payment information: if we introduce paid plans, payments will be processed by a third-party payment processor. We will receive limited details such as your plan, billing status and the last digits of your card, not your full card number.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages and features used, referring pages, dates and times of access, and diagnostic and error logs.
- Session data: a session token stored in your browser's local storage that keeps you signed in. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers.
Information from third parties
We receive market data (prices, options activity and related information) from third-party data providers. This data is about financial instruments, not about you. Third-party services embedded in our website, such as market-data widgets and web fonts, may collect information directly from your browser as described in Section 5.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, precise geolocation, health information or brokerage account credentials, and we ask that you not submit it. We do not connect to your brokerage accounts.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide, operate and maintain the Service, including your account and workspace;
- authenticate you, keep your account secure, and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents;
- generate AI-assisted explanations and other features you request (see Section 4);
- respond to your requests and send service messages such as sign-up confirmations and security notices;
- understand how the Service is used so we can fix problems and improve it, using aggregated or de-identified information wherever practical;
- send product updates or marketing emails, only where permitted, with an unsubscribe option in each;
- comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights, property and safety of our users, the public and Lebs.
4. Artificial intelligence features
Lebs uses artificial intelligence to explain market activity in plain language. AI output is informational and educational only. It can be incomplete, outdated or wrong, and it is never investment, financial, legal or tax advice.
- What AI features process: market data, the details of the trade or screen you ask about, and any question or text you type into an AI feature. We design prompts to rely on market data rather than your personal information.
- AI providers: we may send this input to third-party AI model providers (for example, Anthropic, and TypeSafe AI, which receives the text of questions typed into Lebs AI, the optional line you write about your trading in the setup quiz, and numbers computed from market data, never your name, email or account details) acting as our service providers to generate or check a response. They process it under contractual terms that restrict their use of it to providing the service to us.
- No training on your content by us without consent: we do not use your User Content to train our own or third-party AI models without your permission. We may use de-identified, aggregated usage information (for example, which features are used) to improve the Service.
- Caching: to keep the Service fast and affordable, an explanation of a given market event may be stored and shown to other users who look at the same event. Explanations are generated from market data, not from your personal information.
- No automated decisions about you: we do not use AI to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
- Trade grades and goal checks: grades and probabilities are computed from market data, not from your personal information. Price goals you enter in a goal check are processed in your browser and are not sent to or stored by us.
- Your responsibility: do not enter personal, confidential or sensitive information into AI features. Review AI output critically and consult a licensed professional before making financial decisions.
5. Third-party data and service providers
We rely on carefully chosen third parties to run the Service. They receive only the information they need to perform their function for us.
| Category | Example | Purpose and data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in and account management | Clerk | Creates and secures your account, stores your hashed password and sign-in sessions, connects sign-in with Google, Apple and similar services, and sends verification and security emails. |
| Database and storage | Supabase | Hosts your workspace data and User Content; runs the servers that fetch market data. |
| Market-data providers | CoinGecko (crypto prices), U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury yields), and licensed financial data vendors as we add them | Supply prices and other market data. Our servers fetch this data; your browser does not contact these providers, and they do not receive your personal information from us. |
| Brokerage connections (when available) | Brokers you choose to connect | If you connect a brokerage account, the broker shares market data your account is entitled to, and any account details you authorize, under the permissions you grant. You can disconnect at any time. |
| AI model providers | Anthropic | Generate explanations from the input described in Section 4. |
| AI model providers | TypeSafe AI | Sorts questions typed into Lebs AI and the setup quiz's optional free-text line, checks answers for advice, and describes trades and price history. Receives that text and numbers computed from market data only. |
| Web fonts | Google Fonts | Delivers typefaces; Google receives your IP address and browser information when fonts load. |
| Product analytics and error monitoring | PostHog, Sentry | Show us which features are used (for example which tabs are opened and whether the welcome tour was finished) and report crashes so we can fix them. They receive your account ID, browser and device information, IP address and the pages and features used, not your name, email or the content of your questions. We do not use them for advertising. Usage analytics are turned off when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. |
| Hosting and delivery | Website hosting and content delivery networks | Serve the website; process IP addresses and request logs. |
| Payments (if introduced) | Payment processor such as Stripe | Process subscription payments and billing details. |
Third-party data shown in the Service is provided by those third parties. We do not control and are not responsible for their accuracy, availability or privacy practices, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to information they collect directly from you. Market data may be delayed, and some features use sample or simulated data, which we label in the Service.
7. Data retention and your uploads
We do not automatically delete your User Content. Content you upload or save stays stored with your account until you delete it, close your account, or ask us to delete it. We do not purge uploads because of inactivity or the passage of time.
- Account and workspace data are kept for as long as your account is active.
- When you delete content or your account, we remove it from the live Service within a reasonable time. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period until those backups are overwritten in the normal course, and are not used for any other purpose in the meantime.
- We may keep information longer where the law requires it, to resolve disputes, to enforce our agreements, to prevent fraud or abuse, or in de-identified or aggregated form.
- Content you shared with others (for example a published trade card) may remain visible where others have already copied or reshared it, even after you delete your copy.
- Logs used for security and diagnostics are kept only as long as needed for those purposes.
The Service is not a backup or archiving service. Keep your own copies of anything important; see our Terms of Service.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
Several U.S. states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and a growing number of others, give residents specific privacy rights. We extend the following rights to all users in the United States, wherever you live:
- to know and access the personal information we hold about you, and receive a portable copy of it;
- to correct inaccurate personal information;
- to delete your personal information, subject to the exceptions the law allows;
- to withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- to opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects (we do none of these);
- to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
How to make a request
You can update your watchlist and saved views in the workspace at any time. For any other request, contact us through our contact form using the email address on your account. We will verify your identity before acting, may ask for additional information to do so, and will respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need up to 45 more days where the law allows. You may use an authorized agent where your state permits; we may ask the agent for proof of authorization.
Appeals
If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision within 60 days. We will respond to your appeal in writing within the time your state's law requires. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact your state Attorney General.
California residents: in the past 12 months we have collected identifiers (name, email address, IP address), internet and network activity, account and preference information, and content you submit, from the sources and for the business purposes described in Sections 2 and 3, and disclosed them only to the categories of service providers in Section 5. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit, and we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes (California Civil Code § 1798.83).
Nevada residents: we do not sell covered information as defined under Nevada law (NRS 603A). You may still submit an opt-out request through our contact form.
Email: you can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any of them. We will still send service messages such as security and account notices.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and database access rules that let each account reach only its own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential. If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as required by law.
10. Children
The Service is intended only for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. United States users
Lebs is offered only to users located in the United States and is not directed to people in other countries. We store and process information in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative, and your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, whose laws may differ from those where you are.
12. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of on our own pages. Third-party services embedded in our pages may respond to these signals under their own policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and if a change is material we will give you notice, such as by email or in the Service, before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
